Can you describe your role as a Senior Merchandise Admin Assistant?

“My role is quite diverse and involves a lot of analytical tasks. I analyse product category performances, manage stock flow, set up sale promotions, raise purchase orders, and generate sales reports. These activities support Assistant Merchandisers and Junior Merchandisers in framing key trading strategies, identifying trading opportunities, and managing risks.

I also build relationships with our partner brands, assist in onboarding new brands, and work closely with departments like Buying, Marketing, Trading, and Operations and Logistics to ensure that the right products are available in the right quantities on the right platforms at the right time.”

What do you enjoy most about your role?

“My favourite part of this role is the opportunity to collaborate and build incredible partnerships with our third-party brands. The environment is dynamic and ever evolving, which means there’s always something new to learn and ways to grow.”

Can you tell us about your career progression at M&S?

“I started as an entry-level MAA in September 2022 and progressed to the senior level by September 2023. If you work hard, the business recognises that which is evident from my quick progression. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, with many opportunities to grow and take on new challenges.”

What skills did you gain from the MAA role that have been crucial in your career?

“The MAA role significantly enhanced my organisational skills and developed my trading mindset. I learned how small commercial decisions can have a big impact on the business, which is a critical insight for anyone in Merchandising.”
