“I joined M&S as a Christmas colleague when I was 16. I was eager to learn new skills to enhance my career after taking my exams. Little did I know that six years later I’d be working at my eighth store as a Team Manager!”

Kyle (He / Him) | Team Manager

"M&S is a great employer and the temporary roles comes with a fantastic range of benefits. If you join us at Christmas and work hard then the opportunities and support are there to help you continue your journey through the business."

Kate (She / Her) | Academy Team Manager

"I spent my first Christmas with M&S as a temporary colleague and the next as a Team Manager, running the busiest Foodhall in the region. When I joined M&S, I couldn’t have imagined the doors it would open to my future. Nothing makes me prouder than running a busy store during the Christmas period."

Mehrunisa (She / Her) | Team Manager

FAQs

What is the application process?

Firstly, we’ll ask you to provide us with some of your personal information to get your application started. You will be then asked to complete an online test which will help us to understand your suitability for the role. Upon successful completion, your eligibility to work in the UK documentation will need to be uploaded to your application. An invitation to select one of our interview slots will then be sent. Please note, that interviews slots are limited. If there are no suitable slots available, please continue to check back regularly.

Your interview will be based in one of our stores and will give you the opportunity to decide if M&S is the right match for you, as well as allowing our managers to get to know you better.

If you have seen a number of roles in the same store that are of interest, there is no need to apply and book an interview for each one. Please discuss these roles as part of your interview with the interviewing manager to agree which is right for you. If you have had an unsuccessful application for a similar role with us in the past 6 months, we do ask that you wait until the 6 months period has passed before applying again.

What shifts will I work and what can I expect from the role?

The working pattern for each role can be found at the top of the job advert. These are indicative shift patterns and may change depending on the needs of the store.

Before you apply, please familiarise yourself with the In-Store page to get a feel for what the role may entail.

What do I do if I need more support in the application process?

As part of the application process, you will be asked if you require any reasonable adjustments to support you. Please share as much information as you can to allow us to give you the best possible recruitment experience.

When will I receive my colleague discount?

Your colleague discount and information about how to use it will be provided to you during your induction on your first day.

What if I have any application or interview queries?

Whilst we make every effort to interview as many candidates as possible for our roles, due to the high number of applications we receive, it is not always possible to guarantee this. If there are no interview slots remaining please continue to check back on your application as often more slots are added. Alternatively you can apply for another role that may be suited to you. Don’t worry we won’t ask you to complete your application again, our systems will recognise that you have already done this.

If you have already secured an interview slot but can no longer attend please use the cancellation option on your invite. If you wish to reschedule please be aware that there may not be further slots available for you to select from.

Once you start an M&S application the contact details of the recruiter for the role you have applied for can be found on your email correspondence. All queries about the status of your application should be directed to this email address.
