"Since joining M&S as a Christmas colleague, I’ve been lucky to have been given so many opportunities, from Café Customer Assistant to Stylist. Now I run the Visual Merchandising team at one of our largest Central London stores with eight stylists and two managers."

"I joined M&S as a Christmas Customer Assistant in 2007. Since then, I've worked in 10 stores and now manage 25 people at one of the biggest & newest M&S stores in the UK. I never expected that a temporary seasonal job would lead to such an amazing career in retail."

Stuart (He / Him) | Team Manager – Clothing & Home

FAQs

What is the application process?

The application should take around 45 minutes to complete. Make sure you have your personal details to hand, including your National Insurance number and right to work documentation.

You'll also need time to complete our online assessment and share your availability so you can book an interview slot. Interviews take place in-store and are a great opportunity for you to find out if M&S is the right fit, as well as giving our managers the chance to get to know you.

If you're interested in more than one role at the same store, there's no need to apply separately, just mention this at your interview. If you've applied unsuccessfully for a similar role within the past six months, we ask that you wait until that period has passed before applying again.

What shifts will I work and what can I expect from the role?

Typical shift patterns are listed at the top of each job advert, but these may change depending on the needs of your store. All Christmas colleagues will be expected to work on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th December 2025, as these are some of the busiest and most important days in our calendar. We also ask all temporary colleagues to work full time during the two weeks leading up to Christmas to help us deliver the service and standards our customers expect. Before applying, we recommend visiting the In-Store page to get a clear sense of what the role involves and what will be expected of you.

What do I do if I need more support in the application process?

As part of the application process, you will be asked if you require any reasonable adjustments to support you. Please share as much information as you can to allow us to give you the best possible recruitment experience.

What if I have any application or interview queries?

We aim to interview as many candidates as possible, but due to high demand, we can't guarantee an interview for everyone. If no slots are currently available, check back regularly as we're adding more all the time. You can also apply for a different role, and your application details will be saved.

If you've already booked an interview but can't attend, please cancel using the link in your invite. Rescheduling is limited, so we can't promise a new slot. Please direct any application status questions to RetailRecruitment@marksandspencer.com.
