Summary
As a Deputy Store Manager in Food, you’ll help bring the very best of M&S Food to life, leading your teams to deliver exceptional customer service, outstanding product availability and quality, and strong commercial performance in a fast-paced retail environment. This is a role for leaders who combine strong operational expertise with a genuine passion for food, people, and performance.

What you’ll do

• Lead the daily operation across the Foodhall, ensuring exceptional customer service, strong commercial delivery, excellent product availability, food quality, and outstanding standards.
• Support the Store Manager to deliver the retail plan and drive performance across sales, profit, standards, compliance, and people.
• Step up to run the full store when required, keeping energy, pace, and focus high.
• Coach and develop Team Managers and colleagues to inspire customers, deliver great service, and build confidence across all food categories.
• Use data and insight to identify opportunities, optimise performance, and make quick, informed commercial decisions.
• Champion digital adoption and omnichannel retailing, helping teams connect online and in-store experiences for customers.
• Set and maintain high standards in service, food safety, product presentation, availability, and operational excellence, always reflecting the modern M&S brand.
• Build a diverse, motivated team that thrives on collaboration, pace, and continuous improvement.
