What you'll do

Turn insight into action and help shape the products our customers love. As an Assistant Merchandiser, you’ll take meaningful ownership of range planning, forecasting and in-season trading across UK and International channels. Working closely with Merchandising, Buying, Sourcing and Supply Chain partners, you’ll use data and commercial judgement to spot opportunities, manage stock and deliver outstanding availability, sales and profit. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Merchandiser who is ready to broaden their influence, make confident decisions and play a key role in bringing brilliant ranges to life.

  • Partner with the Merchandiser and Buying teams to shape strategy, forecasts and quarterly product plans across stores, online and International.
  • Analyse performance, competitors and customer demand to identify opportunities and maximise sales, profit and availability.
  • Own launch quantities and adapt stock, commitment, markdown and clearance plans as trading conditions change.
  • Manage accurate ranges, listings and the critical path from buy to delivery, working closely with Sourcing Offices and suppliers.
  • Translate trading lessons into stronger future plans and provide clear range information to Space Planning and Development.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, support International buying events and improve systems and processes.

Who you are

  • An experienced Merchandise Admin Assistant or Assistant Merchandiser with strong knowledge of planning, forecasting, stock, commitments and production.
  • Commercially curious and highly analytical, with the confidence to turn data into clear recommendations.
  • Knowledgeable about the end-to-end buy-to-store journey and confident managing costs, risk and changing priorities.
  • A clear communicator who builds trusted relationships and influences colleagues, partners and suppliers.
  • Organised, accurate and digitally confident, with experience of key merchandising systems including Range Planner, SSI, SAS Reporting and JDA Merch Planning.

Ready to make your mark? If you’re excited by product, energised by pace and ready to use your commercial expertise to influence bigger decisions, we’d love to hear from you. Join M&S and help create ranges that keep customers coming back.

Adam Junior Merchandiser

I am fascinated by fashion trends but for me it really makes sense when I see the sales figures on screen. When I’m able to paint the picture with percentages, we can be more innovative as a team.

Merchandising is all about getting the right stock, in the right place, in the right quantities, to drive up profit. So I like getting out to stores, seeing the products on display and hearing what customers are saying. That helps me to seize the moment and capitalise on current opportunities to go way beyond forecast.
