How We Hire

Everyone is welcome at M&S. No exceptions. It’s your background, abilities and differences that make you, uniquely you. And when you’re part of M&S, that individuality has the potential to make waves.

About the role

This section tells you all you need to know about the position and its responsibilities, outlining everything we hope to see in a successful candidate.

To stay close to our customers and colleagues, our support teams are in the office for at least three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

Summary
We’re reshaping our Food business to broaden its appeal, protecting the magic our customers love while modernising everything else. That means outstanding quality, high sourcing standards, and market-leading innovation remain at our core, while we transform our supply chains, improve our stores, and deliver better value.
All the details

We’re looking for a Project Insights & Automation Lead to drive smarter, insight-led decision making across our M&S Foods project delivery teams. This role is all about building clear, trusted reporting and automating ways of working – moving the team away from manual, reactive reporting towards forward-looking insights that really shape decisions.

You’ll design and own Power BI dashboards that bring together data from multiple systems, automate processes using PowerApps and Power Automate, and explore how AI can be used to improve productivity and reporting quality. Acting as a bridge between data, systems and delivery teams, you’ll turn complex information into simple, leadership-ready insights that help the business focus on what matters most.

Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. We recommend applying as soon as possible.

What you’ll do

  • Build and own Power BI dashboards that provide clear, accurate and forward-looking visibility of delivery, risks and performance
  • Translate complex data into simple, insight-led outputs that support decision-making rather than just reporting
  • Identify and automate manual processes using PowerApps and Power Automate to reduce admin and improve efficiency
  • Work closely with project managers and partners to understand challenges and design practical, user-friendly solutions
  • Lead the use of AI tools to streamline reporting, summarise project status and improve team productivity

Who you are

  • Demonstrable experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards and working with data models
  • Experience using PowerApps and Power Automate to improve processes and ways of working
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify meaningful, commercially relevant insights
  • Confident simplifying complex information into clear, concise, leadership-ready outputs
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, with strong partner skills and a curiosity for using new tools, including AI

What’s in it for you?

Working at M&S means being part of something bigger – delivering quality, value and service to millions of customers every day.

In return, you’ll receive:

  • 20% colleague discount on M&S products and selected third-party brands
  • Competitive holiday allowance with the option to buy more
  • Discretionary bonus scheme
  • Strong pension and life assurance
  • Tailored induction and ongoing development
  • Family-friendly policies and wellbeing support
  • One paid volunteering day per year

Being an in-person business

We're at our best when we're close to customers, and for many of us at M&S, that means working in store every day.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected. It also means we can solve problems as soon as they arise, learn and grow as a team, build trust, and get closer to our colleagues.

Our ‘Closer to Customers’ programme means we all get to work in a store for seven days every year. We see how our customers experience M&S and we can appreciate the challenges our colleagues face in store. It’s all part of a determination to listen, to understand and to change things for the better.
