This role partners a Regional Manager and works closely with Store Managers and central People teams to deliver people outcomes that contribute to strong regional performance.
You will lead a Learning Partner and People Manager, working together to deliver the People Plan for your regions. Partnering with leadership teams and line managers, you will identify people solutions that support business needs. A key part of this role is supporting leaders to build people capability and foster a high-performance culture.
What You Will Do
• Partner with regional and store leaders, providing guidance on people matters and ensuring consistent delivery of M&S standards across employee relations, talent, recruitment, onboarding, development and colleague experience.
• Lead the regional People Plan with a focus on performance, capability building, cultural development and colleague engagement.
• Coach and develop leaders to build high performing teams, strengthen succession pipelines and support organisational change through clear communication and colleague support.
• Use data and insight to inform decisions, identify opportunities for improvement and enhance regional and store performance.
• Work collaboratively with central People teams, promote M&S behaviours, build strong relationships across stores and support continuous improvement through inclusion, feedback and cultural development.
Who You Are
• An experienced People Partner or HR professional from a multi-site or fast paced environment, commercially aware and able to connect people activity with business outcomes.
• A skilled coach and influencer, able to work effectively with senior leaders, provide constructive challenge and build strong, trusting relationships at all levels.
• Competent in using data and insight to inform decisions, drive improvements and support prioritisation across a broad regional remit.
• Resilient, adaptable and effective in environments with continual variety and change, with strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain focus.
• Committed to creating a positive colleague experience, supporting inclusion and contributing to a workplace culture where people can perform at their best

We're at our best when we're close to customers, and for many of us at M&S, that means working in store every day.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected. It also means we can solve problems as soon as they arise, learn and grow as a team, build trust, and get closer to our colleagues.
Your voice and your ideas matter here. Our 8 colleague networks are places to find support, listen to each other and encourage debate. You can pitch ideas ‘Straight to Stuart’, our CEO, or get involved in our BIG (Business involvement Group).
You’ll spend 7 days each year helping in store and getting closer to our customers. We also organise Insight Days, so you can learn more about specific business units, like Foods.
Here’s what to expect at each stage of the application process. This can change depending on the role you’ve applied to. If you need any reasonable adjustments made at any stage, let us know and we can help.
Fill in our short application form and hit submit.
Depending on the role, you may be invited to take part in an online assessment. Should you be invited to an online assessment your Talent Acquisition Partner will be more than happy to support you with any questions.
We'll invite you to join us for an interview. This could be remote or in person. Here, we'll ask you some role based technical questions and examine the behaviours we're looking for.
After we’ve decided, we’ll be in touch. If you’ve been successful, we’ll officially invite you to join the team and let you know the next steps.
